Mixed personalities lyrics

YNW Melly and Kanye West are both artists known to have dealt with mental issues. These are the subjects that are addressed, primarily by Melly, in “Mixed Personalities”. The lyrics also shift indistinguishably between the topic of mental illness and a female Melly is obsessed with. In fact Melly states that the origin of his psychological concerns sprang from his relationship with a homegirl. And she also suffers from mixed personalities. This shorty is referred to as “Penelope”.

I came up with the concept in jail and I already had the song recorded. I looked in the mirror one day and I was like damn I think I got mixed personalities. I really do though, Melvin and shit. That’s how it came about.
